A cost/benefit analysis no longer supports staying in Canada unless everyone moves to the Maritimes or the Yukon for affordable housing and has a remote work job. You rightly point out the paltry job prospects in our resource centred economy. I have told my kids that the best version of their future may lie elsewhere.
