Being an engaged citizen in a democracy requires work and thought. Sound bites and social media snippets can make you feel like you're doing that, albeit superficially.

With the decline of the middle class, this generation has much less stake in society than their parents. The returns on political and societal engagement simply are not there in a game rigged for the children of the one percenters.
