Emmanuel, I really enjoyed your article on a personal level. One of the reasons I found it so impactful is that you are one of the first to analyse self-development with a critical eye. I have read and listened to my share of self-help material as well. Some has helped me grow and yet it too is a "product" in our modern economy.

I happened to read your article at the same time I was reading the NVIXM book by Sarah Berman. Her book really shook me. All the victims were already quite high achieving people with above average intelligence. It was a stark reminder that even in setting out to do good we can be manipulated. All the NVIXM language was cloaked in improving oneself and then changing the world. So much idealism yet so much fraud.
