Europe has always been a tourist destination. There wasn't a problem until Air BnB and cruise ships. Very smug to tell people who have worked their whole lives not to travel somewhere they've longed to see when you yourself have seen these places.

The culprit is the worldwide financialization of housing, not tourism.
