Excellent read on the Civil war.

We are repeatedly told that a war taking 600K lives was necessary to end slavery. Looking at today's news, it accomplished less than nothing.

In ever other jurisdiction, slavery was ended by legislation. I believe that slavery would have collapsed under the weight of its own immorality without a war through trade embargoes, political action, etc.

Lincoln went on to marry into a slave owning family. He was no enlightened saint.

Had the South seceded, the North would have lost the port of New Orleans through which 83% of national customs revenue flowed.

Wars are always fought for money and power, never for social justice.

The winner of the Civil war was the military industrial complex and the central banks who are both profiting from the war economy today.
