Many touted platforms aren’t accepting new contributions
Sometimes we ignore warning signs at our peril.
It was fourteen months ago. I joined this platform with wide-eyed enthusiasm. However, as the venue itself didn’t offer much on getting started, I opted for the no-cost version of an introductory course by a Big Name Medium Writer.
Big Name Medium Writer’s course was proceeding swimmingly until it came to setting up my Stripe account. As I write from Canada, not the US, the rules for accounts and tax reporting were different. However, as Big Name Medium Writer made much of his digital nomad status writing from exotic locales, it wasn’t as if being a blogger from outside the US was outside his frame of reference.
His description of how to set up a Stripe account was so diabolically wrong. I ended up having to start the process over again from scratch. As you might expect, as far as first impressions go, this was not a good one. So, you might say, I looked at Big Name Medium Writer’s ancillary course offerings with a somewhat skeptical eye ever since.
Well, I got what I paid for, you say? Bollocks to that! I don’t know of too many marketing strategy books that tell you to drive your prospects into the ditch…
