Spiritual writer Scott Peck said it best when after reading Rand's novels he wanted to go out and conquer the world. Then, upon reflection he realized that there were no children, elderly or disabled in her stories.

Objectivism is a compelling but incomplete philosophy. It is the philosophy of the individual not of humanity as a whole. It is understandable that if your philosophy begins and ends with the veneration of self, that using psychological excuses is a barrier to self-realization.
