That Sean Payton is a narcissistic sociopath was already well established in the Bountygate scandal. Russell Wilson (and his celebrity wife) has elevated himself above his teammates with his separate office and track record of demanding input into personnel.
This inevitably set up a power struggle. Russell Wilson made more than Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen last year. After two seasons out of the playoffs it's clear the Broncos are moving on from Wilson and didn't want to risk paying his injury settlement. The Raiders also sat Derek Carr last year in the same scenario. I think Wilson will get one more shot at securing his legacy on his next team. Frankly, I don't see the race angle. The Broncos have recently had Teddy Bridgewater at QB and Vance Joseph as Head Coach.
