The millennials are smarter than given credit for in recognizing that job security, pension security and home ownership are no longer attainable in the modern workplace. Their opting out is a peaceful but meaningful rebellion.

I read an interesting article years ago that explained how NYC once had commercial rent control. This gave rise to the landmark sole proprietor businesses that gave the city it's personality. These have all but disappeared and NYC is in danger of losing its character to bland corporatism.
