The movie studios and record companies were turned over to MBA grads with no artistic sensibility a few decades ago. The dramas we get are all rehashed from decades past. I personally have lived through three "A Star Is Born" remakes. The only other genre we get is special effect driven action. Cancel culture has made true comedy too risky so all we get now is clumsy white people doing pratfalls and site gags.
