There is no shortage of dead publications walking on Medium. The other side of the coin is waiting weeks to hear back from a large publication only to be declined.

I had one very recent experience of frustration with a very large publication that I will write about in due time. The publication in question asked me to reformat my submission (on freelance grant writing) to comply with their ordered list format. I did so and when I resubmitted they rejected it saying it was "fiction". As you can probably tell, I'm still a little steamed.

Perhaps we need a permanent column of "publication follies' to document these experiences.
