Writing is very close to the soul. Writers are a sensitive lot too. The first thing I heard in a writing class was "don't quit your day job".

That instilled some fear in me and pushed me into trying to overcome fear of poverty and actual poverty before becoming a writer.

If I get to the end of my life having failed as a writer it will bother me but as much as not having tried.
